What’s a prewatchlist and why do I need it?
A prewatchlist in earnings-reminder, is a list of equities that you’ve briefly looked at , have some degree of interest in, and want to come back to and do some more analysis on later. It’s basically a funnel to take a big list of potential ideas – such as those generated from one of our screens, or output from the idea generator, or something you’ve exported from your trading platform… and filter it down to a manageable list that you can investigate further. Not only does the prewatchlist act as a funnel, but you’ll also be able to query your own individual prewatchlist from our research tool (e.g. show me how many times has BA showed up on my prewatchlist radar and at what price I first noticed it.).
How I use prewatchlist:
When I’m reviewing the output of my screening process, I look at a lot of charts in each session, so I’m quickly assessing the charts and tagging them on my prewatchlist for further investigation. From a workflow standpoint, I have my trading platform/screening tool up on one monitor, and earnings-reminder up in the other, and as I come across symbols I’ll add them to the prewatchlist.
Then what?
Then comes the real work… digging into each chart and doing your homework to figure out if it merits finding trade to targets, or adding to one of your your watchlists (more on that to come).
